Always Alert requires WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. You also need a working WordPress mail setup and an active Always Alert licence.
Before you begin
Have these ready:
Administrator access to the WordPress site.
The Always Alert plugin ZIP from your purchase or account.
Your Always Alert licence details.
A monitored fallback email address.
Access to the normal form-notification inbox so you can test both paths.
Always Alert is not an SMTP service. If the site cannot send WordPress email at all, configure or repair its mail transport before relying on fallback copies or monitoring emails.
Install the plugin
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
Select Upload Plugin.
Choose the Always Alert ZIP file.
Select Install Now.
When installation finishes, select Activate Plugin.
Do not upload the uncompressed development repository. Use the installable release ZIP supplied for the product.
Activate the licence
After plugin activation, follow the Always Alert activation prompt in WordPress and enter the licence associated with your purchase. Once the licence is accepted, the full Always Alert menu becomes available.
The menu contains:
Dashboard
Settings
Monitoring
Logs
Tools
Compliance
If the licence is inactive
Always Alert’s mail interception and monitoring remain paused without an active licence. This is intentional: the plugin does not silently run a partial safety net.
If you see Always Alert oversight is paused — no active licence:
Follow the Reactivate or Reactivate licence link.
Confirm that the licence is valid for this site.
If the site URL recently changed, moved from staging to production, or was cloned, review the site activation associated with the licence.
Return to Always Alert → Dashboard and confirm the paused notice is gone.
Run a Mail Handoff Test and a real form test before treating monitoring as restored.
After installation
Installation alone does not complete setup. Add a valid fallback recipient, review the coverage mode and copy method, save the settings, and test the site.
